Try Raju under NSA and invoke ESMA against truckers

India is presently faced with the challenge of containing terrorist and destructive elements. How should a nation behave in these troubled times? We, the Indians, perhaps don’t have much of an understanding about it. A corporate colossus and truckers’ associations all over India had to cause quite a stir right now. While the former made India appear undependable in the eyes of international investors, the truckers have thrown up grave challenge for the health of national economy. They are not interested to consider the national scenario and not even impressed by the fact that the government of India has already toned down the per liter cost of Petrol and diesel fuels and has promised to bring it down even further within a weak or two. All India Motor Transport Congress thinks it is not possible for transport sector business-people to carry on their job till toll-tax regime on national and state highways are withdrawn. They are simply motivated by the margin of profit that accrues to them due to their efforts. That seems to be practically an end of all the worlds to this truckers. Do not expect them now to be impressed by any sort of a nationalist sentiments. These truckers have very readily forgotten that all they are worth, has been earned in this nation. Someone needs to drive the fact down the spines of these hard boiled but apparently famished truckers that they can not take the whole nation for hostage just to raise their profit bar - that too at a time of crisis, when every Indian citizen must attempt to add in national productivity. It hardly needs an explanation why this is so imperative!

Indeed, this sort of national indifference is neither peculiar, nor a new phenomenon. Even the better off sections of India does not pause for a moment to consider whether all they do are measured to bring the nation some relief in terms of economic or social well-being? That was amply demonstrated by B Ramalinga Raju of Satyam fame. After making a cool confession of all his corporate misadventures, he has gone underground. Though Security and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) officials reached Hyderabad to hasten-up investigations of his misadventures, he was nowhere to be found.

Now, does India not need to prosecute him under National Security Act (NSA) ? That is what India should do now to rein in the elements who take the freedom given to them by Indian constitution just too lightly. Raju has done just the right thing to put a nation to shame and the truckers, if allowed to carry on with their strike any further, will give the nation another blistering spot pretty soon.
