Taliban: No War Lords...Just Drug Lords !

Islam has always had a way of popping up self contradicting scenario. India saw Mughals, who did everything to further the cause of Islam in India. They indulged in massive massacres of human lives here just to convert Indians to Islam. Yet, it remains a fact that none of those cruel ones followed the tenets of Islam strictly. All the Mughal rulers of India had a deep fancy for alcohol - so much prohibited by Islam. Now, Taliban, the self proclaimed yet half-Muslims, are presenting the same contradicting scene.

Specially trained and equipped U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agents assigned to Foreign-deployed Advisory and Support Teams (FAST), and specially trained officers assigned to the National Interdiction Unit (NIU) of the Counter-Narcotics Police of Afghanistan, successfully raided a number of remote heroin laboratories and hashish processing facilities in Afghanistan very recently.

These facilities were under the command and control of the Taliban. A traffickers compound that was successfully raided over a year ago by FAST/NIU operators resulted in the seizure of evidence that clearly showed about $170 million dollars flowing through the hands of the responsible, Taliban-affiliated drug baron in just a 10 month period. that goes to show that Taliban has turned this drugs trade into its mainstay. Indeed it is a huge source of income - it is widely believed in informed circles that Taliban is earning a revenue to the tune of some 500-600 dollars annually from drug peddling.

Thus maintaining their cash-flow at even, the Taliban are demonstrating a resilience and a ferocity that is raising alarm in Washington and in other NATO capitals, and engendering a fresh round of soul-searching over how a relatively ragtag insurgency has managed to keep the world’s most powerful armies at bay. The same is going to happen in Pakistan too because that country is neither too Islamic nor too humane.

Mayank and Sonu, the worsening security scenario in the area has aided opium cultivation, a major source of funds for the Taliban.

If the latest estimates by United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is anything to go by, ”Taliban armed opposition group has an annual revenue of between $200-300mn from a surcharge levied on the illicit drug trade” in the region and much more by the way of it’s direct involvements in other end products.

If Taliban is unislamic, then they do not have any business of speaking Islam. It is right that the brutes are not follwers of Islam.

If Taliban is unislamic

If????? still doubtful. No religion teaches violence but some fanatics change the interpretation to suit their own purpose and Taliban is one of them.

dear all,

i would like to say that now adays most of the organizations that are operating in any country including afghanistan they give their organization a religiouse name so that they people should not know about their business, the samething taliban in afghanistan has given the a religiouse name to their organization and doing their business and the people think that they are doing everything because of Islam and they do not know about their other politics operations, infact most of the taliban’s actions are totally against islam and islam does not permit us to do so.
about drugs in afghanistan, first the super power countries and organization who are claiming that they are fighting against drugs, they should arrest the main drug dealers who are carrying the drugs from afghanistan to other countries through airplans, a simple former in afghanistan only cultivates the drugs nothing else there are other mafia groups who are transfering the drugs from afghanistan and i m sure that no one can stop them.

this is the best explanation and one should not blame Islam for any nefarious action that Talliban carries out. Religion is most abominable weapon used against the innocence.

Generalization of the followers may not sound logical but someone has to own up the evils being perpetrated on the innocents all over the world. Because people can not pin point at any one person for brutalities, that does not mean that criminality can never be seen in their genes. It is a fact that religion does have a role in designing a man’s/a woman’s genes.

Perhaps, you somehow right, Jada Jatni, because clergy allows marriage/reproducing inside and between particular congregaions only.

dear jaga,

you r right that religion has a role in desgining a man and woman’s genes but when a person is doing anything wrong and that is prohibited in his/her religion then we can not blame the religion because the action is dont by him/her not by religion.

Thats interesting Jaga about what you say in religion designing genes....ive never thought of that.

But i wonder over long periods of generations - if natural selection prejudices for particular genetic peculiarities in the populations for religous character.

That would be very interesting for hypothetical thoughts about religions.

And that is very legitimate view. It holds true with Indian RSS and its offshoots like VHP, Sri Ram Sene, BVajrang Dal, Abhinav Bharat and numerous other organisations. f one peeps deep into their way of functioning, he/she does have a nauseating feel. All these are corrupt and culprits which are no different from Taliban.
