In his attempt to impress some descending politicians about the will power of his government, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh named Pakistan as a country that is currently busy playing baby-sitter for terrorists of the whole world, just like Afghanistan had done during the rule of Taliban. That is fine as long as Indian politics is concerned. He has to accept the fact that his govt. He has not shown enough will power to put our own house in order. Even in these troubled times the government has not moved its little finger to ward off the hoax bomb threat calls received almost on a daily basis by police all over the country. Police has to sweat out rigorously after each such call. Email terror threats are slowly becoming the order of our times. Irresponsible elements, who have a whale of a time from such mindless games, have a perfect home in India as law is not strict enough to deter such activities. Our law makers have done precious little to catch these culprits who are taxing the energy of our police tremendously. Such elements must be made a bad example for others to watch and refrain from indulging in callous entertainment.
All we hear on this count is that not much really can be done to ward off this mentality of people to poke a joke on police. This belief stems from the fact that our civil and administrative establishment does not like the idea of moving too much. It does not even look at the way other nations are responding to such and other technology based small time criminals in their territories. Every householder in England and Wales can now check crime levels in their neighborhood through online crime maps compiled by police forces.

Why do we not learn anything from it? Indeed hoax bomb callers divert the attention of security forces and also shake up people’s faith on them. That goes to the advantage of those elements who plan acts of destruction and terror under cover. Legal provisions must be put in place and all administrative machinery must be kept well-oiled at all times so that no one makes an attempt to breach our security arrangements.

what is needed is
deterrent punishment & a public awareness against such pranks
public humiliation & a stiff fine or a compulsory service in some ngo doing social service or in a civic vigilance group may do the trick
this however has got nothing with our face off with pakistan
yes, we do need to set our house in order yesterday
let each one of us become the eyes & ears of the administration & also its conscience keeper
let each one of us become the one man army
let the commitment to fight terror take firm root on grass root levels
amen
